Big Star Quilt

The Big Star quilt top is finished. Very happy with this one also. It is 96 by 119. I have never made one this big before but really wanted a nice size to fit my bed. I hope I don't regret it by the time I get it quilted as I am not that fast. Well as long as I get it quilted by the time the Christmas decorations come out I'll be happy. I need to order the backing and I will order it from Connecting threads as they have 104" backing that will be perfect and I need an extra large quilt batt which is hard to find in Moncton. Here are some pictures:

I made this with some prints that I bought on my bus trip to Pennsylvania with my good friend Marjorie. It was our first stop at a Amish farm. We were lucky enough to have had supper with them. The cream colour is muslin which I haven't used before but will be using again. It is so soft and nice to work with. The dark boarder is a dark green cotton.

Another Finish

Another finish. I just love this black and white quilt. Even the back is really pretty. This is a king and my son and Daughter n law should love this for Christmas.

Also finished another piece for the Ho Ho Ho blog hop that is starting next Wednesday. I will be showing my Christmas pieces on Aug  8th. Hope to see you there.

I also wanted to wish my friend Marjorie from Marjorie's Busy Corner a very Happy Birthday today. A very young person at heart and a very good friend. I would never
joined the blogging world without her and I have enjoyed this so much this pass year. Happy Birthday Marjorie and many more.

Big Star Quilt

A beautiful day here on Prince Edward Island. Just enjoying the sun and doing a little sewing. Working on a quilt for myself. I have been wanting to do one that would really fit the bed nicely and I finally found one. I am not sure who posted this pattern but thanks. I just love how easy it is to make.

There are twelve blocks to this  quilt and they are 23" blocks which is great for making a large quilt. This quilt is called the Big Star Quilt and you can find the pattern on You tube. I have three more blocks to make. It will measure 95 by 119. It will go down the side of the bed nicely. I am glad it is only 95" in length as my quilt frames are only 96" wide. Perfect.

I hope everyone is enjoying their beautiful summer as it sure is nice here.

Summer Fun

I had a great time with my two grand children, Lauren and Owen and Lauren's cousin Allysia. They go home today and then I will have to go back to work. Glad I had the time off with them.  We went for a nice walk to the beach last night and thought I would show a few pictures Lauren and I took.

This is Brackley beach PEI. A beautiful spot that I enjoy going for a walk. Well time to get the kids packed up and delivered to their father. When I get back clean up the trailer and bring the sewing machine back in from the trunk of the car. I think it is getting lonely out there. I hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I sure am.

A little friend met me at the door....

Another beautiful day. I came home from Moncton today and this little fellow greeted me at the door.

Can you see him. He greeted me at the door and flew right into my china cabinet. He hopped around the dishes, flew out and around and then back in. I checked every door and window and don't know how he found his way in. So I shut most of the rooms off, opened the front door, the bedroom door to the outside and the window. He found his way out the window after he hopped all over the quilt in my frame that was in front of the window. Good thing he didn't decide to use the washroom.

I also finished a runner for my daughter n law's birthday. It was a few days late but better late than never I always say. She loved it.

I made one of these a while back and really liked the pattern.  It is a paper pieced pattern and goes together really well. She also has a large table so it looks nice.

Also our quilt show is here in Hopewell Cape this week. The prices of all the quilts are way to low. It must be the economy. They were between the prices of $295.00 and $395.00 for a queen size quilt. What a shame. They were well worth $600.00 or more. All that work and they were all beautiful. I bought this crochet piece which was also very cheap for the work that was in it. $20.00.

Sorry the picture is side ways but you can see how beautiful it is.  So off to PEI again tomorrow with three kids for five days. I will just have to entertain Owen, the girls are old enough to entertain themselfs. I will do things with them after my husband gets home from work and can watch him. He is a terrible shopper and where the girls are concerned a pain. Can't see why ha ha.

My grand daughter Sara

My grand daughter Sara went to Dartmouth  NS today for the Maritimers
Fiddlers Competition and did very well. She turned seven on June 20th. There was children even from Ontario there also. She came in third for the nine and under and received first for the most points for eight and under. Her parents were pretty proud of her as we were also. She came home with the two trophies and received $20.00 for third place and $25.00 for first place. She was pretty excited. She has been playing since she was four. She had to play three pieces without music and play it under four minutes. She has been working very hard.

I also received in the mail my other two wins. One was for the Texas teardrop quilt along. My name was drawn for this beautiful material. Fifteen fat quarters of some lovely print.

I also received the Mirror Ball Dot material from Mark Hordyszynski from all the way fro Haiku HI. A beautiful part of the country. Very interesting material that I can't wait to make something from.

It's nice to be home for a few days in order to spend some time with my grand children. One is here tonight, Mr Owen.

Canada Day fire.

Well just wanted to say hi. I haven't been posting lately as haven't had anything to post. I have been working on my Ho Ho Ho blog hop so can't show those pictures yet. Just been busy working and doing a little sewing. This is our friends camp fire last night on Canada Day. It is quite the fire. He spends the winter looking for stumps with holes in the centre for the campfires. It makes for a great fire and little smoke. I hope everyone had a great Canada Day. It was really nice here. Tomorrow night we are going to the dinner theatre. We are seeing the show Miss Molly. Looking forward to that. So hope everyone is having a great summer. It will go by so fast.
