My friend Joyce donated this painting she did for the silent auction at the benefit For may son Mark. She did an amazing job. My husband loved it so he bought it for me for our anniversary. It looks very nice on my wall. It is a beautiful painting. Some days I do miss painting but I do love to sew more.
The benefit did very well and the food was amazing. A Roast beef dinner. They made a good amount of money to put towards their new home. Living in a small community, everyone is so good. Some people I did not even know. There was a lot of nice gifts and everyone left happy. A great evening.

W.I.P.Wednesday

I am signing up with Monika at the Needle and Thread Network. So head on over and see what everyone else is working on, Of course after you read mine first. LOL

Another week gone but nice to see that spring has finally sprung. How fast the snow left.  My four feet of snow in my flower bed is now down to a foot but it is coming. There has been a few incidents with washed out roads and a town that flooded near by but things are getting back to normal. My husband got back to work yesterday and my son's new home will be started on Monday. All is well.

I got so much accomplished this week. I am so pleased. These two spring runners. I am not sure how I got one bigger than the other but both turned out very well. This is a nice pattern from Connecting Threads. I recommend this kit. Beautiful material and went together so nicely.

I picked this magazine up in April. The quilt on the front was designed by Lizza Alexander. I know she has a blog that I had first seen this quilt. So I picked it up. Very nice.

In this magazine was this little door hanger. I wanted to make this for my mother for mother"s day. I made four. A very fun project and so quick. I recommend this pattern also. So now I got three gifts done that I needed.
I actually found the same button that showed in the magazine at our local quilt shop. Nice.

So with four I get to keep one for myself. Love this project also. A nice piece for my entry way.

While I was away on vacation I did these three cross stitch pictures. When  I was to Micheal"s last week I found these frames on sale. I needed 8" by 8". Perfect for these pictures.

These two will be put away for Christmas gifts.

I thought I would give this one to my daughter n law for her birthday. She was the one who lost her home. I thought it was appropriate. It says "Light the way Home".

So as you can see, A good week. Now time to get dressed and since I have the house to myself I am heading back to the sewing room for the morning, meeting with a couple of friends for sewing this afternoon and craft night tonight with the girls. A good day.

It Is finally finished and on my bed. I knew it was large but didn't expect it to be this big but I like it. It touches the floor on both sides.  It is 94" by 119". Fits perfectly. This has been so long quilting but well worth it. I even got my husband and son to take off the mattress and put on a new bed skirt but I guess I don't need one.

I made this pillow last summer to go with this. I need a couple of more I think.

Connie, Marjorie and I got together this week and made these traveling ironing board  pads. I made two, one for the trailer and one to carry with me when I sew. A fun little project.

So another great week of accomplishments. I tried signing up this morning for W.I.P. Wednesday but mast have been to early so I am adding this to my blog and signing up with Monika from the Needle and Thread  Network. So hop on over and see what is going on.

W.I.P Wednesday

I can't believe it is W.I.P. Wednesday again. Where did this week go to? I am linking up with Monika with the Needle and Thread Network. It seems this is the only time I  have to post lately. But I guess once a week is better than nothing.

Last year I won this pattern and finally got around to trying it out.  So Friday I had a sewing day with Connie and Marjorie and decided to get started on this.

It really doesn't look like the picture. It is suppose to fold into the bag above but I wanted to leave it as a carry bag. I made this for my mother for her birthday in the fall to take on our trip to London. Now I need to make one for myself.

There is a couple of things I want to change on the next one. I need to make the front pockets smaller and I didn't read one step. The pocket should have been one inch from that centre seam.  The center seam looks very nice on the bag. My friend Connie always tells us to read the directions but I am a picture kind of person.

We did change the inside though and added these pockets. They are big enough to put our e-reader, pass ports and other things. A good suggestion by Connie.

I finished the other quilt for the auction today. It is a rainy day here and a great day to spend in  the sewing room. This should be a great piece for the benefit for my son and his wife.

One thing I can say is I am so glad that my friend Connie called me  a couple of years ago to go with her to Amerest N.S. for a machine quilting class with Karen at Sew Karen-ly Created . I have bought a few patterns from Karen and love her work. It was the best thing that we did. I didn't do much with it at first until we did two more classes. I  really am  enjoying this. I love being able to start a quilt one week and have it all quilted the next. It is great when something like an auction comes up and I can whip something like this up.

I also started on another Casserole carrier . I want to make this one and one more for Christmas gifts. Love this material. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it when I ordered it from Connecting threads but I think this will work.

So it has been a good week for getting things done.

W.I.P. Wednesday

I am linking up with Monika at the Needle and
Thread Network. Another week gone. Some days seem long when we are inside with a house full of people but then Wednesday is here again.
I am happy to get this quilt done and very happy with how it turned out. I didn't even have any puckers on this one. Nice. I am getting the hang of it.

I Love this design. I can see me doing this one often. It flows very nicely and when it is finished it looks great.

My grand daughter Lauren will like this one for her birthday.

Saturday I got together with my friends Connie, Marjorie and Rose and we made this casserole carrier. I bought this pattern a couple of years ago planning on making this for my daughter n law Jodi. She is a nurse  and they are always having pot lucks.  Now she has a nice carrier to carry and keep her dish hot. The left over piece made a nice mug rug to set her hot dish on. Another Christmas gift done.

I just took a picture of my flower bed. There will be no Mayflowers here. There if about five feet of snow over there. The deer has ate every ceder tree there is so now they will have to be pulled out.  This has been one long winter.  We had another big snow storm yesterday. The kids were home Monday and Tuesday with the schools cancelled. They are also home Friday for teachers meetings.

You can just see the tips of two little trees here at the edge of my flower bed.

My grand son Owen and I were out playing yesterday and you can walk all around the yard without even falling through. I can see there being a lot of floods this year.

So other than that I did accomplish something this week. I am having another sewing day with Connie and Marjorie on Friday. Can't wait. What will we come up with next? We will see next week.
