Say it with Flowers....

Tomorrow starts the day with "Say it with Flowers".

I hope everyone will drop over and cheer everyone on with all their beautiful pieces. Thanks to Madame Sam for all her hard work and Carol who is our cheerleader during this hop. I am sure everyone has been busy working hard on this. I know I have been. I am still working on it and glad that I have another week but I am sure that it will be done.

I haven't posted much this week as I have been working on this and trying in between rain getting my flower beds done. I am very happy with the progress and will have some pictures next weekend when I hope to have them done. I am off to work tomorrow and will be heading to PEI for a few days.

I will be back Friday as it is time to bury my grandmother. She passed away on January 27th on the day that I arrived in Pureto Rico so I missed her funeral. She was 99 and would have been 100 on April 17th. She had a heart of gold and never would say a bad thing about anyone and if she did before she finished the conversation she would find the good in that person. I miss the days of doing  crypt quote and our lunches .  She was a very special lady.

Here is the schedule for the Hop:

May 27th

May 28th

May 29th

May 30th

May 31st

June 3rd

June 4th

So I hope everyone enjoys the Hop and I will be back to post my creation on  June
3rd.

The machine is set for machine quilting and I now have Lauren's quilt done.

This quilt should never fall apart with all the thread that is in it. She was ten when she started making  this. It was a nice project to machine quilt.
What a beautiful day here finally. I spent 1 1/2 hours weeding this afternoon until my arm started to get sore. I am bound and determined to get that finished before I go back to work. Then went for a nice walk along the river with a friend. What a nice evening.

Saturday, 18 May 2013

I had a nice day in the sewing room. It was to cold to go to the gardening. Some parts of NB was getting snow. Glad it wasn't here. There is a couple pf projects that I have been working on. I needed to get the block done for the A quilt Sampler QAL with Amira from Thelittlemushroomcap.

Now tomorrow I need to get this one and the last on machine quilted.

Now the next project that I started is the Summer  Sampler with Jennifer of Edison Lane Quilts. doing the paper piecing. I have three of the nine done, the Popsicle, the lemonade and the cupcake. With two grand daughters I thought this would be a fun project. It is supposed to be a mini quilt but I think I will do them into runners for their bedroom.

Now it will be interesting to see what the next six will be.

We took our grand son to work with us yesterday. We left at 6:30 and was gone all day. He was really good. We put him to work cleaning monuments. He was not quite strong enough yet, but he had fun running through the spray. He was quite a little help anyway. It was so funny later that evening when we were over at my husbands mother's and someone asked him how he had made out working and his answer was "  good and  I almost got paid. I did get a bag of cheesies though.

It's hard to believe he will be five in less than two weeks.

Texas Teardrop finally put together

I finally got the Texas teardrop together. I am happy with it. I plan to try to machine quilt this as with all the fusing I think it would be hard to hand quilt. I also think I am going to make this into a shower curtain for my mother for Christmas. She has a really nice bathroom in her new apartment and I think it would be very pretty. And with all the fusing I am not sure if it would be soft enough for a quilt. I haven't used fusing that much so not sure how it soften up.

It is very bright and pretty. I will wait to when I pick up a shower curtain to see if I need to make it bigger. Well I was going to go work in the flower garden but it is raining so that means I can sew or quilt. I will start with the quilting and then go to the sewing room. Lots to do there.

Sunday, 12 May 2013

I finally got all the Texas teardrops appliqued. It was time consuming and hard on the neck. I could only do a few at a time.

I will get up in the morning when my husband leaves for work and start putting it together before my grand son gets here. He is not a big fan of the sewing room for some reason.  Once I get this together I have to get at the 'Say it with Flowers.' That is coming up the first of June.
Well today is my anniversary, 34 years. Not sure where the time has gone but hope there is many more  most days anyways, ha ha. I had to share the day with Mother's Day which happens every few years. One son no gift and the other son a gift cert for the Singers store. A start towards the new sewing machine that I have my eye on. Can't wait for the demonstration and sale on June 4th. I hope the price is right. Well time to call it a night. Good night.

The cutest pillows....

These are the cutest pillows and was so easy to make. It is the last thing we made on our craft night. It is hard to believe it is time to finish up for the summer. Nest week we are going out for our last night. Thanks Connie, Marjorie, Rose and Judy for making craft night so much fun.

These pillows were well put together, a very nice clean and crisp summer pillow.

This one is for my friend for her birthday. The flowers I did with one of my stitches and is done in orange.

This one will go with my mother's Mother's Day gift. I hand stitched these flowers in black.

Both turned out well I think.  Time to go and do some more cleaning on my mothers house. It will be nice to pass the keys over. This little pillow should look nice in her new place.
Hope everyone has a great Mother's day. I am also celebrating my 34th anniversary on the 12th. I am not sure where the time went.

It's for the Birds

Today is my day for showing you my projects. I want to thank Mary from I Piece 2 for letting me a part of this Bird Hop. I really enjoyed this. Also thanks to Madame Sam from Sew We Quilt for her part in this also. Visit her to see the outcome of each day.

I started the week she posted this great hop. I had the flue that weekend and spent it going through all my books and magazines to see what I was going to make. Surprising what we have for patterns that we forget all about. Here is the first one:

This pin cushion that I made with wool flannel. He is so homely that he is cute. Then I found this pattern:

A little topper that I made for my entry way table. It is also made with the wool flannel. This was a fun one to do and I really enjoyed making it.

The next two pictures are a couple of pictures that I made a while ago.  This cross stitch picture I made for my mother n law for Christmas a couple of years ago.

I love this little Chickadee. Then the year that I had cancer I painted this picture. I have never painted again. One of these days I would like to again but really am enjoying the sewing. I guess I ran out of wall space and decided to do other things.

It was a picture from a calender. It was one of my favourites. Today I decided to make this little bag to give to my mother for mother's day. She just moved to an apartment so I thought this might be something she could put her keys and a little money in when she went for a walk instead of carrying her purse around. She moved from the country to a little town.

She can fasten it to her belt loop or just carry it. So now for the little give away which I will draw at the end of the hop. Just leave me a little comment and your name will be put in a draw.

The give away is the pattern for this little bag, the bird fat quarter and the little fastener. I hope you enjoy the rest of the hop as I am sure I will. Just go down a little further and you will see the list of people who are participating. Enjoy.
