Mug Rug Exchange
My mug rug arrived today from Bristow VA. I was glad it got it before I left for vacation Thursday. I joined a mug rug exchange just before Christmas and we were to mail them out by Jan 15th. It was a fun little project to do.
Mine that I sent to Jeanne.
And Jeanne sent this one to me. Aren't they cute.
It's nice to get back to bogging. It has been a hectic week with my father n law passing away last Tuesday. Today felt like a normal day. Now I am in the process of packing for my trip. We are going to Pureto Rico for a week then a cruise. It will be good for my husband to get away. I am really looking forward to it. So I won't be posting for the next couple of weeks. I know I really am going to miss it as I am not going to take my computer with me. So I will out of touch for a couple of weeks.
I am in the process of finishing a set of four place mats. I might get them done before I leave. Just might go and make a cup of tea and head to the sewing room for a hour. So I will have some pictures when I get back.

Busy Cartwheel Quilt.
A good day in the sewing room. I finished my busy cartwheel quilt top.
It turned out to be a nice size lap quilt. 65by65 It was made with three 5" charm packs. I am hoping I can quilt this on the sewing machine. I hope I am brave enough.
My daughter n law was looking for an apron like the one I made for my mother for Christmas so I made one for her and one for my grand daughter.

I finished three projects this weekend. Quite happy with the results.
My snowman runner is put together and machine quilted.
I made this little puppy runner for a friend that is a vet tech. I don't usually do birthdays but thought she would like this. It went together quickly .
Last night I sat here and stretched this Christmas piece and got it in the frame. I really like this piece. I also got a few more blocks on my Busy Cartwheel quilt. It is coming along great. Hope to finish it this week. I am not doing so well with my hand quilting but hope to get some done on it tomorrow. It quilts hard and I only can work on it for a short time. It will get done eventually.

I had a great day at my friend Marjorie's this afternoon. Connie and I went there for a craft afternoon. We had fun playing with their Baby go. I have never used one before and we decided to practise on a snowman runner. We cut several sizes of circles to put this together. It was a great pattern to practise on.
I did the appliqueing this evening. I really am starting to enjoy appliqueing. I will finish it this week. I also finished my snowman cross stitch after supper.
I just have to stretch it and put it in the frame. I wanted to take a picture of it before I put glass over it. Pictures don't seem to turn out well with glass. This is such a cute picture that I will probably keep it for myself instead of a Christmas gift. But who knows, I might change my mind. It was supposed to a 4by4 picture and I thought the material was to small so changed it and now it is a 8by8. I was lucky enough to find a really cute 9by9 frame at Micheal's for less than $12.00 with the Christmas sale. It will fit perfectly.
Another great day of accomplishments.

My Cart Wheel Quilt
I finished the pin wheels that I will be adding to this quilt. It is coming along great. I probably will be adding one more boarder around it to make it a nice size lap quilt. I would love to try and quilt this one on my sewing machine.

The day started with a beautiful sky that was full of pinks and reds. A good sign of a storm coming. It has been snowing most of the afternoon. We came home from church and made our first batch of homemade ice cream. It is hard to resist that. I just pretend that it is calorie free.LOL
I spent the afternoon in the sewing room working on clue three for the Mystery Quilt that I am doing with Lindy's Threads. There was sixteen 31/2 " squares. I used the technique from the Quilting Secrets Blog hop put on by Mrs Pickles. There was five different people who had great quilting tips and I learned a lot from them.
Something I was always taught about quilting was not to iron your seams open. But Mrs pickles uses this method. But when working on something so small it made perfect seams. They came out exactly 31/2 ". I was really impressed . So then I went to work on my pinwheel blocks and they came out perfect also. Here is the first block that I did the regular way.
They are pretty good but the points are a little off. Here are the next ones.
The points are exactly where they are supposed to be. Thanks Mrs Pickles for all the people that gave really good quilting tips this week. They were all very helpful. So if anyone has time to go to Mrs Pickle's sight read the great tutorials.

First finished piece for 2013
I had to come down to my friend Marjorie's to download my pictures. Still can't find my brouser button. This is my first finished project for 2013.
This is a pattern that my friend Connie and I found in Urban country Quilts by Jeanne Large and Shelley Wicks. It was hard to get a good picture because of the glare from the glass. I should of taken a picture before putting the glass on. I will next time as I plan on doing another one. I really enjoyed the appliqueing and plan on doing more. I never had
that feature on my old sewing machine but my new one works great.
My son bought me this coffee machine for Christmas to put in my sewing room. When the girls were in for craft night this week they thought it came in pretty handy. It saves me lugging cups and hot things down the stairs. One of the many great Christmas presents I got for Christmas. My other son bought me a three terr steamer and I just love that. It works great. My husband bought me a garage door opener which I was excited about. Can't wait for it to get hooked up. It better not be an all winter project.
Had a great morning going down to my friend Marjorie's to go snow shoeing. I took my granddaughter but I can tell she probably won't go again. She is eleven and not very ambitious. It was a beautiful winter day in the woods.

Happy New Year Everyone.
Happy New Year everyone. Did not get anything done in the sewing room today but did get alot accomplished. My husband and I spent the day putting away all the Christmas decorations. We started at 9:00 and finished at 2:00 with a fifteen minute break for lunch. We have way to much decorations but it is pretty when it is all out. It would take me three days to put it away by myself. It's nice that he helps me. I was just talking to a friend and she does not get any help and has to do it all by herself. I guess I am lucky.
It was a beautiful day here and wished I had time to get outside. There is always tomorrow. My mother had a great New Years day dinner. Everyone was there. It was nice. She stills enjoys doing it. I guess we shouldn't stop her as long as she wants to do it.
New Years Eve was also a great evening. We went to a house party with a few friends. Lots of laughs lots of games and lots of food. We all actually stayed up to bring in the New year. It was a lot of fun.
Well can't wait to see what the 2013 brings. Can't wait to see what everyone will be working on. My friends Marjorie from Marjorie's Busy corner and Connie from Shepody Mountain Crafts are getting together tomorrow afternoon to start our first project for the New |Year. Will probably have pictures tomorrow. It should be lots of fun. Can't wait.
So hope everyone had a great New Years day. I sure did.
