Easy Zippered Box Pouches

These were fun little bags to make. I tried a bag like this last winter and could not figure how to get the zipper in right. Let night I was sitting here and found this on you tube. So easy. If you would like to try this bag go to Easy Zippered Box pouch Tutorial. Www.iheartstitching.com. you can make this little bag in about an hour. She did a great job explaining it.

I finished machine quilting this lap quilt. Since it was bonded in black I got this lovely black material for the back. I just did a simple quilting on it and was very happy with how it turned out.

I love this next project that I am working on. A Christmas tree skirt for my mother . A very easy porject.

I couldn't get the pattern to turn right so you will have to look at it side ways. I am sure this is a free pattern from crafsty. So far a good week in the sewing room.

Saturday 17 January 2015

I really enjoy a week when I finish some great pieces. I made one of these lap quilts last winter for my friend for christmas. I love this pattern which is a kit from connecting threads. This will be a Christmas gift for my daughter n law. I am sure she will love it. I also made this snowman pillow that fits a king size pillow. The only mistake I made on this piece is my background material and the snowmen were to close in color. This I will keep for myself.

I made this quilt a few years ago and finally got my friend Marjorie to quilt it for me. I felt this needed hand quilting as it has the look of a old quilt. She did a beautiful job. Thanks Marjorie. There is a lot of fabric that I have picked up on my vacations. This quilt will be a keeper

It looks great on my quilt rack.

I also finished some other winter pillows. I made four of these. Great Christmas gifts.  I was trying to find some Christmas buttons to add to the Christmas reefs but will have to wait to closer to christmas. They are hard to find this time of the year.

The sewing room is cleaned up so wonder what I will get accomplished  next week. I do have a quilt to machine quilt which will be my goal to finish. I am also working on some cross stitch Christmas socks for my youngest son and his family. They lost theirs in a house fire. If anyone knows cross stitch I am doing the Shepard Bush patterns. I am doing them on alphan material so they will be a nice size.
I should get lots finished this winter as I had to cancel our vacation on a cruise to the Panama canal. My husband had to have surgery and is unable to fly. I am debating whether to use my ticket and fly to victoria and visit my brother. I think it is a possibility as I will loose my ticket. This is the first time I never insured my flight tickets. I Had the rest insured. So we will save the cruise for a later date.

Well we are off to my grand daughters basketball game this afternoon. So hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful winters day.

First project of the New Year.

It finally looks like winter. Not as cold now. A great time to work in the sewing room on this New Year'so  day. This is my first project for the new year.

This is a kit from connecting threads. It was a fun and a very easy kit to do. You start by sewing these rows togeather.

Then you need a 81/2 inch ruler.

Then lay the ruler at different angles and cut.

Then they look like this.

Now this is the finished project. So cute. I just love this one.. it is 50 by 58. A nice little lap quilt.

I think I will get some flannel for the back to make it nice and warm. I also got my new TV hooked up in my sewing room that my son gave  me for Christmas. My husband wondered how I got the cable into the room. I told him I can do things if I need to. I don't have the patience to wait for someone to do it for me.

So a very productive day.

Happy new year everyone. It's hard to believe that it is 2015. We thought it was so amazing to be the year 2000 and now it is 15 years later. Four grandchildren later has made it the best fourteen years ever.
The last year has been so many projects and can't wait to see what the next year brings. Some finished projects for the year 2014.

The sewing room is all cleaned up waiting to see what is coming up next. We have four weddings this year so I think I will start there.
Also just got a new I pad so blogging should be a lot easier. Looking forward to the next two months of quiet and relaxing after such a busy year.
So wishing everyone a happy new year and look forward to seeing all the great projects for the year 2014.
