Peace out.......Let's Twist to the 60's

Flash back to the 60's--- the days of peace, love, and rock'n'roll---while lounging on a floor-size pillow stitched from batiks prints. I am not sure that batiks prints were in the 60's but hey I was only a kid then. It is the first time that I have worked with this type of material and at first I wasn't sure that I liked it but the more I worked with it the better I liked it.

It was funny when I signed up for this hop I asked my mother n law what sort of  quilts they made in the 60's and it sounds that the style of today's quilts are the same so that didn't help. So down to my stash of books I went and the very first magazine I picked up had this pillow in it so it was meant to be. so I had to make it.

When my grandchildren come down they will have a nice pillow to lay on and maybe leave my cushions on the couch. I also thought they might need a small quilt to wrap up in.

The material was so nice to machine quilt and I sewed the binding on by machine and it laid down so nice. I picked this quilt up last November during Midnight Madness from Connecting Threads for less than $20.00. A great buy. It measures 54 by 54.  I wanted to take these picture's outside but the weather did not cooperate. It has rained all day.

So I know that one of these projects represent the 60's but the quilt is make all with the Batiks fabric. I want to thank Madame Sam and  Mary for all their work. I do so love doing these hops with them. Since I didn't have time to have a give away with my last hop I have decided to have one this time. All you have to do is leave a comment and a way of getting a hold of you and I will have a draw at the end of this hop. I had a little material left over from this project so here are two fat quarters of this Batiks material.

Hope everyone is able to join each one and see their great projects. Here is the list for the week. Have fun and cheer everyone on.

Crazy About Wool

Well it is another blog hop and oh what fun. Every blog that I join I learn so much. Wool is another fabric that I have never worked with until this year.

Well thanks to our sponsor Dennis of Pieced Brain for all the planning and organising that she had to do. I was just visiting everyone that was in for today and I must say there are some nice pieces. I hope I can compare.

I wasn't sure what to make as it has been such a crazy summer but grabbed a few books on my way to the trailer and there so happened to be a wool pattern for this little Christmas piece. I just had to make it.  I didn't realise how expensive wool was until I visited the Fabric store in Charlottetown. It was $44.00 a meter. A little out of my price range. So there probably won't be a lot of projects with wool unless I can find it some where else. Needless to say anything fun to do isn't cheap.

I decided I would go down to the sewing room yesterday morning to make another one. These will be great for Christmas presents. I like this one.

A fun and easy one to do. I also want to wish my mother a very Happy Birthday. My brother and I are going to take her out to lunch today. We have two very nice little cafe's in our little town now which makes it so nice to go for lunch.

The schedule for this hop is here and I hope everyone gets a chance to visit each and everyone.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my pieces.

A great buy

I went into Micheal's last night to pick up a quilt batt and found these at the cash on sale. They were on for .99 cents a ball. Guess I will be making a few scarfs for Christmas presents. Very pretty colour's. I should of picked up all they had but thought it would be a lot of knitting. I used to do a lot of knitting but haven't done much for a while. Yarn just got to expensive.

I haven't been on much lately. Still away working but doesn't mean I haven't been sewing. I have been working on Crazy About Wool and Let's Twist to the 60's. I am all ready and just waiting for the hops to begin. I have been enjoying the Let's Pin It hop that is going on now. There is quite a list to go through everyday. Everyone is doing a great job.

My sewing machine is tucked away in my car while we are staying in a hotel. If I had a set of knitting needles I could knit. Oh well I will just play on the computer. TV is terrible and this couch is so uncomfortable that I have to sit on a pillow. It gets dark early now so the evenings are long. It was a beautiful day today and enjoyed driving around getting lots of fresh air. Fall is my favorite time of the year and I really enjoy the colours. It won't be long now. Where this month is going. Have a great day and see you on the next hop.

This is what I decided to quilt on the Big star Quilt. What nice material. It quilts so nice.

We headed back to PEI today. My husband decided to start working again. I hope the back holds up. It has been much better today. I think helping with the house fire has not helped the healing process. He told me on the way over that his mother lost thirteen quilts in the fire. What a shame but the firemen saved so much and no one was hurt. I spent the weekend washing some of her quilts and quilt tops ready to quilt and all her fabric. It all came clean. Some I had to wash twice. It is now all ironed, folded and stacked in a box ready to have something wonderful to make from it. We saved all the cross stitch pictures but one that I have made for her over the years. I took them all apart and threw all the matt's away. I will leave them for awhile before I re frame them. What a month. I pray that Sept will be a much better month.

I have signed up for Crazy about Wool and It's all about the 60's. So now to come up with some ideas. I brought a few books with me and some material so will see what I come up with. I have some idea's. The Wool one should be know problem but since I was born in the 60's I will have to ask and think  about that one. I haven't done any blog hops this summer so will be nice to get back in a routine again. Every time I go home I leave something at the trailer I need and every time I come here the same. My next trip home I am taking all my sewing thing home. They need to be all in one place. Well I hope everyone has a great week.
